1.- Visit the wonderful beaches

The Mexican Caribe is well-known for its beautiful ocean. You can’t miss the chance to soak in the sunlight, enjoy a cold beer by the shore or swim in the turquoise water. There are plenty of beaches you can visit in Playa del Carmen, either as part of resorts and hotels, or public beaches you can just crash into. Among our favorites, we can list

  • Mamitas Beach.
  • Playacar Beach.
  • Coco Reef.
  • Calle 2 Beach.
  • Parque Fundadores.

2.- Try the amazing Mexican gastronomy

Mexican food is one of the best in the world, not only for its exotic flavors but also for its variety. You can choose among a wide range of traditional restaurants to try world-wide known Mexican food like tacos, grasshoppers, guacamole or carnitas. Or you can also choose food from specific regions like Cochinita Pibil from Yucatán.

The variety of restaurants you’ll find in Playa del Carmen will keep you interested for a long time!

3.- Shop away in La Quinta Avenida

La Quinta Avenida (5th Avenue, literally) is the main shopping spot in Playa del Carmen. It extends more than five kilometers and hosts the best boutiques and stores. Luxury brands like Prada, Salvatore Ferragamo or Massimo Dutti have landed their brands here, too. It also hosts amazing retail stores like Forever 21, and the number of things you can get here will blow your mind. The best restaurants in Playa del Carmen are also located here, either Mexican, Italian or any other cousins.

4.- Visit a Cenote

The southern corner of México has one of the most amazing works of nature: Cenotes. Cenotes are caves formed below the earth, in which water flows naturally, sometimes with depths of a hundred feet. Filled with amazing views, exotic species and crystal clear water, Cenotes are experiences you can’t miss. Book a place with an excursion or hire a private guide to take you. You can also venture on your own but always remember to pay attention to any sign or warning, your safety is first!
